1. Without doing any research, name 10 to 20 departments or other work units (academic and other) in your school (for example, business school) or college or university.

Your instructor might tell you which one to think about, or might let you choose. Envision and draw a chart of how they seem to fit together, including several hierarchical (vertical) levels.

2. Next, find online a formal organization chart (if available). How does it differ from yours? Are you surprised by anything?

3. Thinking of the chapter material and your experiences, what strengths and weaknesses do you see? Can you suggest any changes and explain why you recommend them?
