4 The fostering of innovation. Creativity and innovation cannot be ordered. In Edison’s words, creativity is 2 per cent inspiration and 98 per cent perspiration, and there is really no way that managers can demand that people be inventive. It is, of course, possible to reward creativity and create the right conditions under which it can flourish, but this alone will not force it to happen.
