Almeida Filho et al (2018) measured how the enzyme chymotrypsin is affected by a compound called LsCTI. (Chymotrypsin is an important digestive enzyme secreted by the pancreas.) They constructed Lineweaver–Burke plots (i.e., lin earised versions of the Michaelis–Menten equation) of chymotrypsin activity at various concentrations of LsCTI and got the plot shown in Fig. 6.9.
What can we conclude about the action of LsCTI on chymotrypsin? (Hint: as the LsCTI concentration increases, so does the slope of the Lineweaver–Burke plot, but the x intercept remains almost unchanged. What does this tell us about Vmax and K?)
