Approximately 11 percent of all the personnel in every department are either confused about their jobs or lack an understanding of how to accomplish them. One-third of this group admit that they have never been formally trained in their job. Twenty-five percent say that they have never seen a job description related to their work and they doubt whether one has ever been written.

One of them explained it this way, My boss told me to go over to the computer department, find out what they want from us every week in terms of information, and report back to him. I did this and was told that from now on I was this department's liaison with the computer department.

Now what does that mean? How much authority do 1 have?

What are the limits of my authority? I think it's going to be a real scream when it comes time to evaluate me. Apparently my boss knows what he wants me to do. However, he's the only one around here who knows. I certainly don't.
