A hospital in a large city (where there are several hospitals) is considering posting current waiting times outside its ‘Accident and Emergency’

(emergency room) department. According to the operations officer at the hospital, ‘if a patient has a problem that is not life threatening, such as a sprained ankle, the patient can trade off the discomfort of a longer drive with a possibly longer wait’. What do you see as the pros and cons of posting emergency room waiting times?
