1. Taylor Margolis Quealy: I believe that a lot of human behavior is seen/can be observed in lower animals, such as dogs, cats, and more. I believe this because a lot of the basic needs that humans have are the same as the animals like the ones listed. Also, a lot of times we live in the same home/environment as these animals such as having a dog or cat as a pet in your home. As for our basic needs, we need sleep, food, and attention, much like our pets at home. I know my dog at home knows when she is about to be fed because she is fed at the same times every day, and when she sees one of my family members walk to the closet where her food is stored, she gets excited. She also knows when it is bedtime because when my house starts to calm down and everyone disperses to their bedrooms, she goes to her doggie bed.

As for learning, I believe the same way we teach or "train" a child is the same with a lower animal such as a pet. Positive and negative reinforcements are used for both. For example, when a toddler is beginning to potty train, he/she usually receives some type of reward for going in the potty. Much like a dog might receive a treat for going outside.

While lower animals may not have their, own language like we do to understand something right away, learning through experience is possible over a series of time.

2. MinHee Kim: Researchers have been doing a lot of different fields of experiments with animals. Because, the humans are part of animal species, we have more abilities and advanced brain than animals, which separate between human and animals. But I think, human and animals started from same root. Both need to consume food to live, have family, learn and accept things as we live. And lower animals are more likely to behave as humans. Wild animals are living in environment of constant changes and various situations. But human and lower animals like monkeys and dogs, are living in a fixed conditions and repeated daily routine life. For an example, when baby is born, the mother feeds the baby at certain times and gets him/her to sleep in certain way in certain room and certain time. That becomes normal to the baby's daily routine. And a pet dog gets fed at certain time, certain amount of food and he/she has a place to sleep and pee. That becomes a normal daily routine for a dog's life. He/she will know when food is ready from the noise of opening the dog food can, and will know when the owner is home by their smell or footsteps. Those things are all from the past experiences, that they have been experienced and memories their body instantly remembers. For an example, when you touch a hot, your will burn your hand. So, next time you would put a pair of gloves on or will wait till the pot cools down. Because you know from past experiences, if you touch a hot pot, it will burn your hand. When a dog pees outside of the house and gets attention from the owner or a treat, he/she will know how to get a treat or attention. So, next time when a dog has to pee, he/she would scratch the door or bark to get an attention from the owner to get outside and pee to get treats. The dog knows from his/her past experiences. I don't think human and dogs just learn about stuff or plug new information to their brain. The body and brain remembers from the past experiences and memories to act according to it.
