09/22 ORGAN WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT #1 You're an organ with a steady job at Frank Co. You do your job all day long to keep the lights on at home, bust your butt to very little thanks - but the job itself is fulfilling. However, changes are coming. The corporate heads of Frank Co. have looked at the forecasts and realize that it may be time to do a little downsizing if they want to keep this company alive. Under the guise of a board meeting, the company will be evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of a number of organs under consideration for termination. On July 16, 2022 (Due Date) and 07/25 & 7/27 (Schedule Presentations), you have an opportunity to defend your position in the company at the board meeting. Lots of cells (and other organs!) are counting on you to keep your department (organ!) alive and kicking. On the due date, you will present your Organ along with other organs in your specific system. One group at a time, you will show your presentation, and present to the heads of Frank co. (your instructor) to keep your job in Frank's body. Be creative and have fun with your presentation. You need to educate others about the job that you do and your importance - remember, you don't want them to forget you! Needed information for presentation - 1. Tell what the name of your organ is and where you are located. 2. Describe your major functions in the corporation. 3. Explain to the committee how you perform these functions. 4. Identify which systems of the body you work with and how you work together. 5. List the other organs that work with you in your system. 6. Tell the corporation why you are important and why they should not fire you. 7. Explain what might happen to the company if they fired you. 8. Provide a labeled diagram of yourself (the organ) with parts labeled AND a diagram of where your organ fits within your larger system. 9. Provide at least 5 fun facts about yourself that the corporation may not know. 10. Create an advertisement requesting support for your organ (see details below). Handout for presentation On your handout you need to describe to the board key characteristics of your organ and explain why you are important to the corporation. (This will be the essentials of your body system - a quick cheat sheet for your classmates to keep as a study aide.) ORGAN-WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT #1 Grade Breakdown 20% will come from your peer evaluations. Peer evaluations must be submitted in order to receive your grade. The other 80% come from the evaluation by your instructor (s) on the below criteria. PowerPoint and presentation on the following questions will be worth 60% 1.
