In chapter 4, parking was one of the topics that was discussed. Parking is essentially the first and last impression made on a guest. It is essential for the staff of the event, guests, vendors, and more. It is imperative that when you are looking for parking spaces they are able to accommodate the needs of your event such as the duration of the event and the capacity. Once you have found the space for parking, you should also start to make a parking plan, consider parking services, and take the necessary security measures for it all. The article that I have chosen is an easy read that provides some examples on how to ensure a successful and easy traffic flow.

Given that event admissions is a focus of chapter 5, I picked an article about novel security technology at stadiums, arenas, and other large venues. While this is necessary, it can slow down the admission process, detracting from the experience of event-goers. The article highlights one company's new high-tech metal detectors that uses an artificial intelligence to differentiate between safe metal objects on a person (like an iPhone) versus an unsafe metal object (like a knife). This allows attendees to be screened by security both safely and quickly, which should contribute to a smooth ingress experience at an event.

After reading about this new technology aiming to speed up entry for guests into large scale venues, have you had an experience attending an event where you thought the admissions process could have gone a little faster? I found it interesting that the textbook and article stated how important it can be to stick to a theme that reinforces a message and marketing goals (should a business or organization be hosting an event). This is something I never necessarily thought of, especially as a guest attending certain events, until reading this chapter. So from a guest/ event attendee perspective, what are some principles to keep in mind when developing a theme for an event?
