(1) Identify a piece of law or regulation that has reinforced or has the potential to reinforce injustice (1) identify a piece of law or regulation (e.g. legalization of same-sex marriage; Cannabis Legalization and Regulation; mask/vaccine mandates during the Covid-19 pandemic; foreign-buyer tax; The Safe Streets Act; etc.); please note that the piece of law you choose should have the three basic features of law identified by Weber (please refer to your textbook Law and Society Chapter One and your slides for Weber's definition of law and the three basic features); OR if you think the injustice is done by several pieces of laws or even the whole legal system, you can focus on describing the relationship between the injustice and the role of the legal system/many pieces of laws. (2) Come up with an example/story in everyday life to make the connection between this piece of law and injustice: (2) give an example/story to support your argument that this piece of law/the legal system is reinforcing injustice or disadvantaging some people (please note that it doesn't have to be your own experience or story) (3) Draw upon at least two legal theories we have studied together in Part Two to analyze how the law or regulation is implicated in injustice. (3) in your analysis, draw upon at least two of the following legal theories: legal realism (law on the books and law in action), legal pluralism, feminist and queer theory, and critical race theory.
