1 Project Activities and Sequencing Scenario CC CPMGT/301 August , 2016 Professor 2 Title of Project Activities and Sequencing Scenario The scenario presented is that of a for profit university that must adhere to the strict guidelines set in place regarding the Higher Education Act of 1965; which stipulates that the organization cannot garner financial bonuses to employees for the purpose of driving up enrollment numbers. Due to the lack of employee opportunity to earn bonuses at the university there has recently been a detrimental impact on the overall morale of the employees. Management is of the belief that an employee incentive program will reinstate high employee morale. Project Scope The first question that must be addressed is how we can increase employee morale while still remaining compliant with the government regulations. Given this is a higher education institute who relies on student loan and student enrollment to operate it is not allowable to pay employee bonuses as an incentive to have recruitment officers enroll prospective students. Given that monetary compensation cannot be granted to employees the next question that must be addressed is what types of incentives employees would deem worthwhile and appreciated. With our questions in place we can build our project scope for an incentive program to build the morale of our employees while still adhering to regulations set forth by the Higher Learning Commission. Incentive Program Employees want to work for an organization that they feel values them and their contributions to the company. Typically, this is done through salary compensation however there are other incentives that can be devised that would cost the university less out of pocket that 3 would carry value to the employees to have. One such incentive proposed is tuition reimbursement. Employees of the university will receive 7 credits per semester to take courses at the university baring clearance with their supervisors that it doesn't interfere with their work day. 7 credits per semester would be enough for an employee to be a part time student of the university and this would allow them to further their education. Having employees further their education adds value to the employees' employment skills as well as to the universities work force, and providing this benefit would not be of significant cost to the universities budget. An additional incentive the university would like to offer their staff is free unlimited access to the on campus gym facilities. The university gym features cardio and elliptical machines, an Olympic size swimming pool, a steam room, as well as access to many yoga and fitness classes. Private gym memberships can be very costly and we believe the employees will see the value in this offering. Lastly, we would like to offer a reward system centered on health and wellness. The university will offer a financial benefit of $150.00 payable once per fiscal year for individuals who complete a Biometric Screening, which looks at BMI, weight, glucose, lipid panel, as well as LDL and HDL cholesterol readings, and a Personal Health Assessment which asks the user to complete a series of questions about their personal health and lifestyle choices. All information is kept in the strictest confidentiality per HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance regulations. With the rising costs of medical expenses and the cost to employers to offer comprehensive insurance packages to employees we believe offering our staff a financial incentive to annually assess their health will encourage and educate our staff of the benefits of knowing their crucial health stats. The goal here is to encourage our staff to be healthier and in turn potentially reduce insurance claims in the process through proactive health care. 4 Stakeholder Value The value to our stakeholder is to save the university money while offering comprehensive incentives to our employees. We want our employees to feel valued while also helping them to be healthy and educated. We believe these incentives are more valuable both personally and monetarily in the long run then a onetime financial bonus.
