With Dougie having a developmental stage of an 8-year old I would approach to him in a different way. I would develop a relationship with him by asking him his favorite activities while allowing him to be independent as possible during the examination such as getting off the table or dressing/undressing. I would ask for the residence aide to be in the room throughout the whole assessment as well. I would also explain and demonstrate how my equipment is used such as my stethoscope or penlight
