1. There are numerous statutes that an investigator may potentially violate in a divorce or family law case. These were discussed in handouts, the Bearden article on marriage and divorce, the PowerPoint, and on the discussion board. These statutes can be broken down into three categories:(1) intrusion into seclusion, (2) violations usually involving a computer, and (3) miscellaneous violations. Discuss the statutes that fall into all three categories. For each, give an example/mock scenario in which the statute(s) might be violated.

2. You believe a husband is hiding assets. In this scenario you are not an asset investigator. The asset investigator is billing $375 an hour. You are billing $125 an hour. The asset investigator and the attorney have agreed that you will locate and identify files in the case and "do the legwork" to find the data for the asset investigator to analyze. What documents from the divorce file would you review (and why), what other documents and information would you attempt to look at (and why), and what database searches would you make? Is there anything else you would do that I have not listed

3.A local school district originally adopted a policy that students could "self-identify" and transgender students could use the bathroom of their choice. Their 9 year old is a transgender who was born a female, but now identifies as a male. The school responds to pressure and creates a third bathroom (gender neutral) for children to use. By using the bathroom the child is "outed" as transgender and has been the subject of bullying up to and including a physical beating today during which the other children groped the child's genital area. Discuss how Title IX of the Education act of 1972 applies to this situation, and how would you investigate this school related incident?
