1.Pretend you are in charge of your own company or office. How would you define diversity? Now, select a group or groups that are typically underrepresented in a work setting of your choice, and discuss why their perspectives can be beneficial for that workspace. (Remember, diversity can be race, gender, age, individuals with disabilities, etc.) Cite at least one source that backs up your ideas (a recent news article or journal article).

2. Write an essay that discusses your experience of engaging with another culture. Answer the following questions while applying concepts from the course learning materials (cite where appropriate):

• Do you feel any differently about that culture after your project? Why or why not?

• What misconceptions did you have that were clarified or proven wrong?

• What will you consider in terms of communication when encountering someone from this culture in the future?

• How can you use what you learned from this project to your future career?

• What did this project teach you about ways of empathizing or understanding someone whose culture you don’t know much about?

• What does it mean to demonstrate respect for different cultural contexts and perspectives in the workplace?
