22. The Border Community Liaison Program at the Harlingen Border Patrol Station hosted its first Family Border Patrol Academy. Eleven family members of current and former BPAs successfully completed the Family Academy. The seven-week program incorporated a range of activities that included a quick line tour of the Harlingen Area of Responsibility, Use of Force demonstrations, basic first aid, and presentations by the Special Operations Detachment and the All-Terrain Vehicle unit. The family members took time out of their summer to participate in the academy, and they left with a better understanding of what agents do on a daily basis.
