24. Irv is a nightclub bartender with a bad temper. One warm and muggy Saturday evening, Basil derides Irv, calling him a jade, a practiced ruffian and a seller of heroin. Basil also mocks Irv's tight-fitting pants and clownish shoes. The patrons at the bar erupt in laughter. Irv becomes enraged at Basil's rudeness. He comes from behind the counter in a crouched defensive position and strikes two blows to Basil's midsection, fracturing one of Basil's ribs with his second, more powerful blow.
