After the assault she suffers from depression, social and sexual withdrawal, and traumatic phobia. Psychiatrists testify that she will probably have difficulty resuming her professional career for at least the next ten years, and she testifies she is unable to perform because of her shame and humiliation. She sues the motel owner for pain and suffering, mental anguish, humiliation, and loss of earnings; her husband sues for loss of consortium.
