6. PT X is a manufacturing company that produces and sells machine parts for large industrial equipment. You as an internal auditor have conducted a preliminary audit on the inventory section, so the following is the understanding you get: Raw materials, which consist mostly of high-cost electronic components, are stored in locked warehouses. Warehouse personnel include a supervisor and four staff. All are well trained, competent and have adequate coordination. Raw materials are removed from the warehouse only with written or verbal permission by the production supervisor. No perpetual inventory records are kept, therefore, warehouse employees do not keep records of goods received or issued. To compensate, warehouse employees calculate physical inventory every month. After the physical count, the warehouse supervisor matches the existing quantity with the pre- determined order level. If the count below is lower than the order, the supervisor enters the part number on the material requisition sent to the accounts payable clerk. The accounts payable clerk prepares a purchase order for each item on the list and sends it to the supplier who last purchased the part. Warehouse clerks receive ordered materials upon their arrival. The clerk will count all the items and verify that the amount matches the amount on the bill of lading. The bill of lading is then initialed, dated, and stored in the warehouse to be used as a receiving report.
