(6 pts) 4. Flowering plant species can be subject to inbreeding, through self-fertilization. Some species have adaptations that help to avoid this inbreeding, through asymmetric flower structures. If the flower structures are "right-handed", then a pollinator visiting the right-handed flower will get pollen on its left side, and thus, only be able to deposit the pollen on a left-handed flower that it visits later on. [Similarly, visits to left-handed plants will result in pollen deposits on right-handed plants.] You are interested in studying a particular plant species that demonstrates handedness, called Lupinus perennis. Assuming the pollinators do not prefer one type of plant over another (type: right-handed or left- handed), researchers theorized that the handed-ness of the L. perennis plants would occur at equal proportions in the population. The researchers (named collectively: Bio 272 Rockstars) wished to test this hypothesis, and went into the field and sampled plants randomly. The Bio 272 Rockstars, returned to the lab with 18 right-handed L. perennis plants and 6 left-handed L. perennis plants. Are these data evidence of a more dominant type of handedness in the L. perennis population? Show your work (state your approach, your null hypothesis, and give a p-value for the test you did), and state your conclusion in language relevant to this problem (rather than just saying "reject" or "fail to reject" the null hypothesis)
