A 500kVA 11000/220 V 1-phase transformer is connected to a load at 220V and power factor of 0.8 lagging. The iron loss of the transformer is 500W and the circuit parameters of the transformer are given as follow:
HV winding: winding resistance, R1 = 2.5 ohm ; leakage reactance, X1 = j1.5 ohm
LV winding: winding resistance, R2 = 0.005 ohm; leakage reactance, X2 = j0.002 ohm
Determine: (a) the total impedance referred to the primary side; and (5 marks) (b) the supply voltage of the connected load.
