A book is placed on a table, and the table is placed on the floor. On what does the table exert a normal force? (the options are: neither book nor the floor, book only, floor only, or both book and floor)
I understand that for normal force to be exerted there must be contact with the surface. My guess on this is that the Table exerts normal force on the book only and that the floor is exerting normal force on the table. My professor grades harshly so I'm scared to guess.
