A Factory absorbs an apparent power of 600 kVA from a 38 kV, 50 Hz three-phase network. Non-linear loads in the plant produce a 3 th and 11th harmonic current. Compared to the fundamental current, the 3th harmonic has a value of 0.12 pu (12%) and the 9th harmonic has a value of 0.064 pu (6.4%). The feeder at the point of common coupling has a short-circuit capacity of 37 MVA. Calculate (1) The reactance Xs of the feeder (ii) The value of the 3th and 11th harmonics (111) The value of the harmonic voltages at the PCC (iv) The relative values, concerning the 38 k V feeder voltage, of the harmonic voltages at the PCC. (v) The THD at the PCC. Is this level of THD acceptable at the PCC? If not, what are your suggestions on how to reduce the THD.
