A shadowy world of quack doctors and con men has profited from the coronavirus pandemic by peddling fake coronavirus cures. Anas Aremeyaw Anas, an investigative reporter, goes undercover in Ghana and uncovers a Covid-19 scam worth tens of thousands of dollars. Anas sets out to uncover so-called treatments, expose the persons who sell them, and test the drinks for potentially hazardous and toxic chemicals while posing as the brother of a man ill with the deadly coronavirus.
It has been established that around 15,000 Ghanaians who have been infected with the coronavirus have died as a result of bogus treatments.
These quack doctors have been selling their medicines at higher prices with the least costing $300. They also a fake certificates from the Food and Drugs board Authority(FDA) claiming their medicines have been scientifically tested and approved.
These quack doctors go around preaching lies to the general public that their concoctions have cured coronavirus patients even outside Ghana (China and US). However, there was no legal evidence from any coronavirus patient testifying healed by these counterfeit medications aside those paid to give false testimonies.
After being sanctioned by the FDA they decided not to advertise publicly but in private by deceiving the people with false information that they have limited stock and selling it at higher prices.
Corruptibly, they pay huge sums of money to doctors and pharmacists to recommend their drugs to their coronavirus patients. They also use names of high personnel's like first ladies from different countries, renowned doctors, and prominent kings as people who have testified to their medications. These shows they might have bribed them to use their names to promote their fake medicines.
The FDA after testing one of these medicines discovered the bacteria E.coli which often derives from faeces, meaning there was a sample of liquid collected from faeces that was added to these medicines.
