A system has two generators, G1 and G2, of capacity 80 MW and 50 MW respectively. nd G2 have failure rates of 0.01/day and 0.012/day respectively, and mean repair times of 8 days and 6 days respectively. Use sequential Monte Carlo simulation to estimate the following.

(a) Assuming failures and repairs to be independent, find the mean time to first overlapping failure of the two generators, starting from the state where both generators are up.

(b) Find the steady state probability and frequency of encountering the state corresponding to the overlapping failure of the two generators.
