A wastewater which characteristics are given below is fed to an A/O Process having a total sludge age of 5 days. 50 % of influent fermentable substrate is known to be converted to acetate when anaerobic volume fraction is 0.1. The recycle stream is assumed to contain no nitrates. Stoichiometric and kinetic coefficients are given below.

YH = YPAO=0.45 VSS/COD,

bH = bPAO=0.15/day,

fe=0.20, Cs1=400 mg/l, Ss1= 40 mg/l

According to given information, calculate:

a) PAO fraction in the sludge

b) Amount of phosphorus removal

c) P content of the sludge

d) Effluent phosphorus concentration for 10 mg/l influent P.
