A white paper is a concise summary of a technical topic. Usually you write one to inform a decision maker in an area that is not necessarily his or her area of expertise pursuant to making a strategic decision. It is not intended to be comprehensive, but it is intended to convey enough information so the reader has sufficient information to discuss the topic intelligently. In general, the topics in white papers are not broad; they are narrowly defined enough so that in a few pages a reader can grasp the fundamentals of the topic. This has to be the same topic as your research paper. Your white paper must include introduction of the topic; historical context for the topic; why and how it is used today and in what context; why is it important; and a conclusion. You must include APA formatted headings. For this work you MAY use Web references, but they must be reputable/peer reviewed. All sources (3 5) must be cited within the work per APA formatting with APA formatted references. Think of this work as support for a proposal you are submitting to your boss for approval or trying to explain a new concept to your students or customers. 2-3 page minimum/maximum. All students, regardless of department, MUST use our standard format (In the second announcement for the class). Additionally, there are PDF examples provided; one of which must be followed. This assignment requires a cover page and a reference page in addition to the 2-3 page body.
