MODULE 12: RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT

The purpose of this assignment is to conduct some legal research using the database provided and uncover and examine the litigation history of 3 companies of your choice.

Steps:

  1. For this assignment you need to pick 3 Canadian companies that you are interested in. Perhaps you are interested in working with them in the future.
  2. Go to www.canlii.org and search on the 3 companies you have chosen to review any litigation that has gone before the courts. If none of the companies you have chosen show any litigation history, then choose another until you find a company that has some litigation history.
  3. Pick one of the companies that you have found on canlii.org and provide the following information:
    1. What is the cause of action?
    2. What trial court was this matter heard in
    3. What are the facts of the case (briefly provide an overview of what happened)
    4. What was the outcome (judgement) of this case.
    5. What reasoning for the judgement did the court provide.

Submit your results via dropbox by the date given by your instructor or on Learn Module 12.
