After completing your BSN, you accepted the position of Unit Coordinator (UC) for a 25- bed surgical unit. The previous UC retired after 27 years on the unit. The Director of Nursing told you the UC had been there 5 years too long and left a team that needed some revitalization.

Recently, however, you have seen that on the days when you are not present, the unit is staffed with 1-2 more nurses than the patient acuity and the staffing mix warrant. A UC from another unit said he walked past your floor and noticed staff websurfing and spending time chatting in the break room.
