After I type in the following as an example:
You can use the resources provided by the State Bar of California to find out how many lawyers are in California as well as find out which ones are active and which ones in inactive by checking the State's Bar annual reports. As of August 30, 2024, there are 195,669 lawyers who in active status and 74,076 who in active status. It also provides those attorneys who are not eligible to practice law in California.
You can also use the resources provided by the American Bar Association as this website provides a breakdown of lawyers by state. I found it interesting that one-fourth of all lawyers are in just two states: New York and California (170,959) and that California has 4.4 lawyers per 1,000 residents.
and I used these two sites as references:
State Bar of California, Attorney Demographics, State Bar of California, https://apps.ca.calbar.ca.gov/members/demographics.aspx (last visited Aug. 30, 2024).
American Bar Association, Lawyers by State, in ABA Profile of the Legal Profession 2023, https://www.abalegalprofile.com/demographics.html (last visited Aug. 30, 2024). Sources: ABA National Lawyer Population Survey, U.S. Census Bureau.
Where do I place the citations and how do I place them. I am answering a question and the answer to a question must include citations to the source or authority.
I don't know where and how to write it correctly. For example, I'm I using italics anywhere in the citation? I'm I underlining anything?
I am new to Blue Book and I want to be sure I am doing this correctly.
