Algebra 2 EOY Project Functions Family Book DUE DAY: Friday, June 9th, 2023
Hi, my algebra 2 scholars, can you believe it is already the end of this school year? In this class, we have discovered many types of functions. Let's work on a project to summarize all the features of these functions and reflect on our learning journey. This project is called "Functions Family Book". In this book, you are going to review the features of the functions you choose, answer some questions, introduce yourself as the author of this book, and reflect on your learning experience this year. I hope you have a lot of fun while you are working on this project! We are looking forward to reading your final amazing book! What do you need to know about this project? It is a group project. Yes, you can work with your friends. NO MORE THAN 4 members in each group. What should be included in your Functions Family Book? Cover- Design a cover for your book. Make a special and fun cover! Table of Contents (Title of each page and page number should be included.) Example of "Table of Contents"
Functions Family: CHOOSE THREE FUNCTIONS from linear function, quadratic function, exponential function, and logarithmic function. Then you need to answer all the questions related to the functions you choose. o Linear Function: yy = mmmm + bb Choose random numbers for m and b, then provide the graph of the function. (For example, you can choose mm = 2, bb = 3, then your function is yy = 2 3 ). You can use desmos graphing calculator to create the graph then screenshot of the graph. Introduce the meaning of mm and bb in the equation yy = mmmm + bb How does the graph change when the slopes changes? (What happens to the graph when the slope is positive, negative, 0, or undefined?) A real-life example of using linear function Optional: You can add any other features of this function you want to share o Quadratic function: yy = 2 Provide a graph of yy = 2 (Again, you can use desmos graphing calculator to create the graph then screenshot of the graph.) What is the standard form of the quadratic function?
What do the following vocabularies mean? (You can use the graph to demonstrate the meaning of each vocabulary.) the vertex axis of symmetry max. or min. value of the function the zeros of the function. A real-life example of using quadratic function Optional: You can add any other features of this function you want to share o Exponential Function: yy = aaxx Provide a graph of yy = aaxx when aa > 1 and another graph of yy = aaxx when 0 < aa < 1 How does the graph change when aa > 1 comparing to the graph when 0 < aa < 1? A real-life example of using exponential function Optional: You can add any other features of this function you want to share o Logarithmic function: yy = logaa Provide a graph of yy = logaa when aa > 1 and another graph of yy = logaa when 0 < aa < 1 How does the graph change when aa > 1 comparing to the graph when 0 < aa < 1? What is the relation between exponential function and logarithmic function? A real-life example of using logarithmic function Optional: You can add any other features of this function you want to share Q&A (Please show all your work that leads to the final answer as needed.) o Create a real-life problem that needs to use exponential growth to solve the problem (No log is involved in this problem). Please indicate how the answer is rounded in your question. Then show all your work that leads to the final answer. o Create a real-life problem that needs to use exponential decay to solve the problem, but this question must be solved by using logarithm. Please indicate how the answer is rounded in your question. Then show all your work that leads to the final answer. Reflection: Each member in the group should provide the individual reflection. For the reflection, you need to write a paragraph (at least 5 sentences) and include all the answers to the following questions. a. From 1 to 5, how do you rate your mastery of this trimester? 1-struggling, 5-nail it. Why do you give such number? b. Please share a successful story you have this year. Why do you consider it is a successful one? c. Please share one thing you want to make a change next year. Why do you want to change? d. What suggestions will you give to my next year group of students? Author page: Each group member needs to create a page to introduce yourself. Introduce yourself! Anything you want to share, the more the better! A picture of yourself is highly recommended. We love to see the fabulous authors of this book! English
