When she gets home Betty looks up one of her specialist books and finds that the clock is actually worth RM 1500. She immediately writes a letter to Alicia agreeing to buy the clock for RM 750. The following day Betty meetsCarol, a fellow clock enthusiast, who tells her that she has just bought that particular antique clock from Alicia's Antiques for RM 1000. Betty's letter reaches Alicia on the day after she had sold the clock to Carol.
