All great apps began as ideas. The best place to start (Coming up with a good idea) is to start thinking of things in terms of problems and potential solutions. Start asking questions like Why do we do things this way? or Is there a better way to solve this problem? If you can identify a problem or market inefficiency, you are halfway to your idea. The next thing to do is understand why this problem exists and think about why nobody else has solved this problem previously. Immerse yourself in the problem space as much as possible. Once you have a complete grasp of the problem, begin to evaluate how your idea could solve the problem.
APP+= I added the + onto the App Assignment because as sport organizations expand into the Metaverse, the opportunity for new creative business ideas expands. So, if you want you can develop a concept for a digital sport-based business for the Metaverse instead of a specific app idea.
The Situation: The Executives at your Sport Organization (you pick the organization or pretend it is your own company) are looking towards the future and want to stay ahead of the industry. They have tapped you to come up with a new innovative (big) idea for an App (or Digital Business) for the company that does one of three things 1) Generates a new revenue stream, 2) Enhances the Fan (customer) experience in a significant way, and/or 3) Enhances the employees workflow in a significant way that in turn helps either the fan (customer) experience or the business financially. They are looking for a unique idea that will be a game-changer, so think outside the box. If you choose a Metaverse sport-based business, then you need to be able to explain what it is, why people would use it, and what the basic business model would be.
Expectations: The Executives expect you to build a professional PowerPoint presentation spelling out exactly what your App concept (or Metaverse Business concept) is, how it will work, how it will look (use A.I. text-to-image for help), and who will use it. Also, use the technique of Backcasting to describe the future you see (for your app) and the steps needed to get to that future (i.e., My app will have 5 million users by 2026, I expect to add these features (...) by 2025 to increase the number of users 10% a month to reach 5 million users by 2026, in order to add these features we will need the coding to be completed and start testing by early 2024, etc...).
Your presentation should answer the following questions:
What is the purpose of this App? What will it look like? How will people use it? How much will you charge? Etc...
Who is the target audience for this App?
What problem is this App trying to solve?
Your preliminary research should answer the following questions:
Is this a unique idea?
What similar apps are already on the market?
How will your app differ?
Your presentation should also touch upon the following:
What content/features will this App contain?
Function and Display
What it offers, Notable features, Added value, Other key features, Sponsor(s), In-app revenue streams, other possible revenue streams, or marketing benefits
Revenue Goals (Realistic)
Concept Depictions
Produce depictions of what the app would look like (Main pages) and how the pages would be mapped out.
