My topic of interest is adolescent participation in Goal Therapy. My question is, "How adolescents feel about goal therapy and their perceived success? "
My goal is to explore if goal therapy positively affects adolescents in mood regulation, increasing social skills, lessening anxiety, encouraging self-care and self-respect, increasing self-esteem, developing a sense of accomplishment, and improving or developing coping methods.
The four criteria of the litmus test are met below:
Justified? There is positive evidence that early goal setting and adequate clarity in the goal setting are beneficial.
Grounded in the literature? Literature and research on this topic are described in both qualitative and quantitive studies.
Original? My selected topic is original in that it will focus on adolescence and will be presented with
Amenable to scientific study? The framing of the problem does not reveal researcher bias or present a foregone conclusion, and it allows for a systemic inquiry that permits multiple possible conclusions.
The study will ensure a clear mutual understanding of the goal between the researcher and the client. Furthermore, the client will confirm that the goal is realistic and reachable. The researcher and the client will discuss and identify possible barriers and benefits of the goal.
Challenges will include the client's comfort in goal setting, the clarity and understanding of the goal, establishing a too-large, minor, or too-difficult goal, the participant feeling that the scope of the goal is unrealistic, and lack of cooperation by the client, outside barriers to the client such as peers, family, bullies, and other patient contacts and influencers.
Four criteria for judging quality: These include the credibility of the inquirer and how competence will be considered, credible evidence reaffirming the value of qualitative inquiry, systemic in-depth fieldwork that yields high-quality data, and systemic and conscientious.
