Introduction

Entrepreneurship has a greatly positive impact on economic growth and job creation in which new and small businesses contribute signi?cantly in these areas as well as in regard to innovation as discussed in the paper by Gelderen et al (2008, p. 539). Therefore, it would therefore be advantageous for universities such as La Trobe to foster Entrepreneurialship among its student cohort. Entrepreneurship has been defined in various ways with one such definition revolving around the notion as the vocation relating to a work attitude that emphasises self-reliance, initiative, innovativeness, and risk-taking (Gelderen et al. 2008, p. 539).

The aim of this report is to determine the attitudes of La Trobe students in regard to entrepreneurship and whether they have intentions to pursue a career in the entrepreneurial field. Furthermore, other determinants will be explored including

Reliability analysis: For the reliability analysis a construct was chosen based on how desireable certain aspects of entrepreneurship as a career choice was to respondents which included; Facing new challenges, creating new jobs, economic uncertainty (insure earnings), to be creative and innovative, obtaining high incomes, taking calculated risks and independence. This could also be interpreted as what is the driving force/(s) for individuals to follow this vocational pathway.
