As a Chemical Engineer, a company asks you to calculate the length of a tube required for a shell-and-tube heat exchanger. The company is desired to warm an oil of speeific heat 2.0kJ/kgK from 300K to 325K by passing it through metal tubes of inner diameter (id) 10mm. The total number of tubes is 100075g/s of oil is to be passed through each tube. Along the outside of the tubes flow water, inlet temperature 372K and outlet temperature 361K. The oil is to make two passes through the exchanger. The water makes one pass along the outside of the tubes. The overall heat transfer coefficient from water to oil based on the inside area of the tubes may be assumed constant at 230W/m2K
