As a remainderman in real property, do I get to collect outstanding accounts payable the life estate has yet to collect if he is dead?

As a remainderman in real property, do I get to collect outstanding accounts payable the life estate has yet to collect if he is dead? For example, a person has possession of property with his wife under life estate. They rent out the property, and now get money from a different income. He dies somehow, and tenants still make payments on those rents. Me as a remainder to which I own the property now, can I collect that debt from before he died? Or can his wife collect it?
