As results of the spread of COVID19 the president of Uganda ordered the usage of

bicycles instead of cars. As a result, three types (Brands) of medium sized bicycles

assembled in Namanve industrial park have been test cycled by a cycling magazine

and compared on speed, five bicycles of each brand were each test driven and the

km per hour noted.

Assumptions;

The distance covered by Bicycles of Brand A is equivalent to your random age

for five years from 2000 to 2009.

The distance covered by Bicycles of Brand B is equivalent to your random age

for five years from 2010 to 2019.

The distance covered by the Bicycles of Brand C is equivalent to your random

age (the age you will have) for five years from 2020 to 2029.

Determine if there is a difference in the mean speed for the three makers of bicycles.

Use the information above to fill an ANOVA table. What recommendation could you

give to Ugandans in regards to the bicycle brand to opt for? Explain the factors which

supported the use of ANOVA in the case above.

Question four

a) A company is interested in forecasting the sales it has made over time. From

collection of past data, the manager has realized that sales for most months of

the year were missing and some of the available sales have been affected by

different environmental conditions. Explain with relevant examples how the

company can forecast the sales.

b) The monthly profits of a bank for the last three years depict up and downward

movements with no trend. You are consulted to provide forecasts for the

monthly profits of the coming year. Explain the methods you would use to

make the forecasts. Make sure you use relevant illustrations.
