As you may recall from earlier in the semester, Hardy and Scheufele (2005) investigated the differential gains from traditional and internet news use on political participation. In that study, the authors employed a hierarchical regression model to assess the effects of traditional media use and internet hard-news use in predicting political participation. Their analysis showed that traditional news use significantly predicted political participation ( = .15) and internet hard-news use also significantly predicted political participation ( = .09).
