Design an OU Structure for your company: The Green Energy Battery Company

• Your Forest and Domain is usually the same in a simple single Domain environment.
• Often, your OU design replicates your organization's hierarchy chart.
• At, Green Energy Battery Co, OUs should include : Sub-Groups: Sales, Marketing, Retail, Management plus possible others (IT is an example).
• Also plan to have a separated Privileged IT Accounts section.
  • You should have at least 4 separate IT Sub-groups that will need to be delegated access to their own OU sub-structures.
  • You also have a Helpdesk Group. Plan for appropriate rights for them.
    • They will need to reset User Passwords.
• Plan for separating Users, Computers, Groups, and resources like Printers.

What is an OU Design?

The organizational unit (OU) structure for a domain includes the following:

• A diagram of the OU hierarchy (here is an example that Professor likes: the concept draw website
• A list of OUs (there is a form in this module right after this assignment that can be used that helps meet the requirements)

For each OU:

• The purpose for the OU
• A list of users or groups that have control over the OU or the objects in the OU
• The type of control that users and groups have over the objects in the OU

Available under the Modules tab (Identifying OUs.doc) is a document by Microsoft from Windows Server 2003's Deployment Kit, to aid with OU planning. You can use this, or create your own format/table for your submission. I recommend changing it to add columns with useful information if you do use this format.

OUs are created for a specific purpose, such as the delegation of administration, the application of Group Policy, or to limit the visibility of objects.
