Assignment Description: 1. The Rationale: The object of this assignment is plaintiff's claim based upon the attached "Memo to File" client statement in accordance with the Small Claims Court Rules. 2. The paralegal you work for has given you a memo based on a client interview and has asked you to prepare a Plaintiff's Claim based upon the information in the attached memo. o The action must be commenced in the appropriate jurisdiction as required by the Rules. As you know, a Plaintiff's Claim has two parts: a Form 7A and a Schedule A. When you file the Claim electronically, you will save your final draft in PDF format. Using Adobe Acrobat DC Pro, you will combine the two PDF documents (7A and Schedule A) into one PDF document. Please use the PDF editing tools to rearrange the pages so that they are in proper order, delete the instructions page, and insert your signature on the last page of the Form 7A (you may just use the "insert text" tool instead of the signature tool at this stage). o For the purposes of this assignment, the claim has not yet been issued so there is no court file number. In the court file number field on the forms, insert your name.2 | P a g e o On the last page, sign your name as the legal representative of the plaintiff. For the date, insert the date the assignment is due. Do not sign for the Clerk in the Clerk signature section. o Refer to the Small Claims Court: Procedure and Practice textbook for the relevant rule and for sample pleadings; however, do not simply copy the sample pleadings. SCHEDULE A o In a separate blank word doc., you will set out the details in support of your client's claim in numbered paragraphs. o In the top header of the document, type in your name. o In the body of the pleading, you must refer to any relevant documents that support your claim AND properly list these documents (numbered tabs) at the bottom/end of the pleading. There is no need to create these documents; simply refer/list them. o You must communicate in a clear, concise, and precise manner using appropriate and professional language.
