Assume that a famous photographer wishes to display his works at the museum you head. However, some of his photographs are controversial. They are explicitly violent and off-putting to conservative tastes. What's more he, himself, is controversial. He has had numerous arrests for assault with neighbors and one conviction. When he was in high school he beat up a teacher. There are rumors that now at 50, he has sought intimacies with high school seniors. The photographer makes no apologies for either his art or his actions. He claims the teacher in high school provoked him, denies that he has been abusive to neighbors, and claims that amorous involvements are the business only of himself and consenting partners. Some of your patrons and many of the people who work at the museum find his politics and behaviors outrageous. Among the offended patrons are several who donate large sums to the museum. However, the fact is that many museum curators throughout the world consider the artist's photographs aesthetically brilliant. Even though the offended people have the opportunity to avoid the museum or the exhibit, there is outrage within your workforce that you would even consider displaying these photos given how offensive
