Assume that you are the leader of a team building a snow sculpture for the month-long competition at MTU's Winter Carnival. In this assignment, you will complete the project conception phase and write a one-page Project Initiation Document (PID). You should at least cover the following areas: 1) Problem formulation * What is the problem you are trying to solve? What is the motivation for the project? You can ask yourself why you are doing the project (ask why two or three times). 2) Stakeholder analysis * Make a comprehensive list of all relevant stakeholders. Classify them based on their level of interest and influence. Describe the needs of all stakeholders in the high-interest and/or high-influence categories. However, only include the most important information in your PID. 3) Project Goal(s) *Write three SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, and Time-Bounded 4) Feasibility Analysis *What do you need vs what do you have? Convince the reader of your PID that you have enough: Time, Budget, Other Key Resources, Skills, and Experience. 5) Business Case *Cost-Benefit analysis: Is the project worth doing?
