BIS are a renowned organization specializing in the design and implementation of bespoke information systems. Business is booming and requests for new systems are arriving regularly. Unfortunately, this rise in demand has placed increasing pressure on project managers, who are claiming that they are spending too much time dealing with administration and not enough time managing projects. Therefore, it has been decided that a computerized information system is required to assists project managers with their administrative burden. After a series of interviews, the following description of the manual system has been written:
System Requirements:
Each project is allocated a project manager, and over time, a project manager may be involved with many projects. The project manager will divide each project into a number of tasks and the more complex tasks will be broken down further into smaller, more manageable activities.
Each task must be allocated at least one member of staff and may require the use of contractors during its completion. Furthermore, it is not unusual for both staff and contractors to be allocated to more than one task.
Both staff and project managers, whether allocated to a project or not, must belong to a department within BIS. Contractors, however, do not have to subscribe to an agency or they may, on the other hand, subscribe to several.
