Bruce is a broadcast journalist with one prominent TV news channels in

Malaysia. One day, he received a call from a parent who only wanted to be

known as Mr. J.

After the phone conversation, Bruce learned that a teacher was recently

transferred to a primary school in Petaling Jaya where Mr. J's daughter was

studying at.

Mr. J, who claimed himself as staff in the high court, said that the teacher was

facing several charges of child molestation. Mr. J was worried that the teacher

would commit the alleged offense at his daughter's school.

To prove the validity of the claim, Mr. J promised to provide Bruce copies of the

court charges. Mr. J hoped Bruce would report this story so that the other

parents could be more careful.

Noticing

that this might be an ethical issue, Bruce discussed with his producer.

In the meeting, they discussed that it was a fact that the court case was

ongoing hence the teacher has not proven guilty. On the other hand, revealing

the teacher's identity might protect the students.

Assuming you are Bruce and/or the producer, discuss

how you resolve it and

why.

You need to discuss your choice of action by including relevant ethical philosophy

and/or similar real-life examples in the media industry.

You also need to explain the reason why you might not have handled it differently.
