Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
Assessment Task 2 - Performance and Skills
Part B Align behaviour with organisational values
Scenario: Staff shortage |
In your ward, one of the volunteers has not been able to come to work because they have been ill. Another team member is also on approved leave. However, this means that rest of the staff have been having difficulty getting through morning routines and with conducting enrichment activities. This has caused some of the residents to become agitated and for one family to make a complaint in writing to you. You call a meeting with the staff to address the issues and to come up with a plan. |

Part C Model Leadership Behaviour
Scenario: Individual performance |
It has been a week since the new performance plan has been implemented. One of the team members has been stepping up with personal care in the morning, by coming early to work while the staff numbers are down. However, one team member has been coming in an hour late, despite agreeing to come early, and not phoning in to let the team know and not explaining why. This has caused the team to have conflict with each other and fall behind on the KPIs and meeting the customer service standards. This also seems to be out of character. This employee's background is Thai and their English is poor so communication is not good. However, they have been a punctual employee until now. |
- Based on the scenario above, write email to your manager about your team's meeting and resulting performance, highlighting the pros and cons of the last week and describing the short fall based on the scenario information. Reflect on your own performance and its relevance to organisational standards and values.
