Business Problem

Faculty and administration at GCU's CCOB observe that student attendance is low at campus events and activities. CCOB sponsors events and activities through clubs and organizes career fairs and professional speakers throughout the school year. The time that faculty and administrators spend with these events and activities can be extensive and beyond their assigned duties. The purpose of the events and activities are to provide additional learning opportunities for students and provide experiences that are valuable as they seek jobs and evaluate career choices. The business problems are that few students benefit from these events and activities, and the time, energy, and money invested by faculty and administration might be better used in other ways. The CCOB events are things such as student job fairs, where businesses come to the college of business and except applications and talk to students about job opportunities.

Research Objective

A convenience sample of 100 or more students will be administered an online survey. The survey will measure attendance at CCOB campus events and activities and students' attitudes toward attendance. Respondents will be asked their level of agreement on a seven-point Likert scale with statements that assess their beliefs, feelings, and behavioral intentions about campus events and activities. Each Likert statement will be measured using the mean score of respondents, and the statements will be ranked based on lowest to a highest agreement with the attitudinal dimensions assessed in the survey.

1. Provide three statements that could be used to measure cognitive attitude (knowledge and beliefs) about campus events and activities. Make three survey questions pertaining to the measurement of cognitive attitude which pertains to what one knows and believes about the event. these will then be followed by how one agrees or disagree with the statement made

2. Provide three statements that could be used to measure affective attitude (feelings) about campus events and activities. Make three survey questions pertaining to the measurement of attitude, which will be determined through I feel statements. these will then be followed by how one agrees or disagree with the statement made.

Example - "I feel bad when I have to miss a CCOB event or activity that could be important to me."

3. Provide three statements that could be used to measure conative attitude (behavioral intentions) about campus events and activities. make three survey questions pertaining to the measurement of conative attitude. these will then be followed by how one agrees or disagree with the statement made.

Example - "I plan to ask my instructors about CCOB events and activities coming up in the next few weeks."
