In a Voronoi pattern every point in a given region is closer to the point within that region (called a seed) than it is to any other point outside the region. Each point along an edge is equidistant from the two (or more) nearest seeds. These patterns occur commonly in nature. a. Do some research and share what you learn about Voronoi diagrams and patterns. Where might learning about them be useful? How would a person in a career need to use these? Share what you find. b. The figure below shows a region consisting of all points inside of a square that are closer to the center than to the sides of the square. i . Describe the shape of the region and explain why it is this way. How does this relate to Voronoi diagrams? (I would encourage you to try and draw one, it's a fun challenge). ii. Find the area of that region as a function of the side length, L. Tip: It may be helpful to calculate this area for some constant choices of L before extending the idea to any side length L. If you do, be sure to include this in your write up. L L L
