Can the professor still get the house for $25 million? Is Amber liable for breach of contract?

All right, let's change this a little bit. I did like the house. I mean, those chandeliers are pretty cool.

And it turns out, Amber, that although living here while going to school is very interesting, you can have some great parties, and you do enjoy roller blading in this 150 foot ballroom--

Yes.

--it's a lot to dust. And you're all alone. It's kind of rattling around, so you decide maybe you should sell. So you put the house up for sale. You're selling it yourself, and there's an open house. A lot of people stop by the open house to check out the interior of this place.

But I come by, and I am, believe me, a serious purchaser. I think this would be just perfect for me. It's a short commute to campus. I'd love to have this house. So I'm there like an hour and a half.

Most people take a quick look, they breeze in, they breeze out. I'm an hour and a half.

And I brought my tape measure. I'm checking out the drapes, and I'm looking to see where my furniture can go. And I'm looking at the closet space. I'm really serious.

And you're asking $25 million. That's the offer price for the house. So I'm just about to leave. Amber stops me in the hallway, and she says, I can see you're a serious purchaser. Do you suppose you would like-- what if I give you a promise that you have seven days. I will not sell the house, she says, to anybody else. You can have this house at $25 million, and you have seven days to decide.

Take your time. Think about it. Check out your financing, whatever you need. If you tell me within seven days, the house is yours. And I say, Amber, that's very generous of you. Thank you. Do you suppose you could write that down?

And Amber says, absolutely. So she writes it all down. Writes it all down, she signs it. She gives me this piece of paper. I thank her very much, and I go off my merry way. And in fact, I am thinking about the house. It's a wonderful house.

In order to lubricate my thoughts, I find my way to my favorite local watering hole. And there I am, at the bar, and I'm having a drink, and I'm thinking about the house. And I'm having a drink and I'm thinking about the house. And who should be next to me at the bar but Quentyn.

And he is there having a drink too, and we start chatting. A very personable fellow you are. And we're chatting and we're chatting. And next thing I know, Quentyn tells me that he is the newly appointed ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

And I say, well, that's very good. Congratulations, Mr. Ambassador. That's wonderful. And he says, and the best part is they just bought me this house, incredible house, 150 foot ballroom. We're going to have great parties in this house.

And I say, well, where's this house? And he tells me. And it turns out that this house is exactly the same house. It's Amber's house. And you've-- they've sold it to you or to the Grand Duchy for $30 million.

Now, I am very upset. Remember, this is day five. I still have two more days under your promise. So I come back. Is there anything I can do? Can I get the house? Can we make Amber honor her promise? Or am I out of luck?
