I believe that Alex's speech should be considered language.

Alex was able to identify objects and understand Dr. Pepperberg. He could even make requests such as, "I want a nut."

• Finally, in one paragraph, describe a personal experience you have had with learning or teaching a language (e.g., teaching a child, working with someone with aphasia, or learning a second language). Include in your description an explanation of why understanding language in nonhuman animals might be important for teaching language to a child or someone with a language impairment.

I am a special education ed tech and work with children with speech and language deficits.
