• Carbonic System, Inc. hired service department manager Robert Curren on a one-year contract. During his second year, Curren received a new employee handbook stating that employment was at-will. Several years later, Scott Casey, the distribution manager, told his wife, Kathy, the president of Carbonic, that he had seen Curren loading a Carbonic computer into his vehicle. After Kathy determined that Curren did not have permission to take a computer, she called him.
