Direct Exam of Deputy Allen

Did you have an opportunity to speak with Carla Reddy that evening? Yes, I called from the scene and informed her that her husband had been involved in an accident and that emergency responders were transporting him to Bay Front Hospital.

Did you tell her that he had died? I did not. I told her that it was a very bad accident and that she needed to get to the hospital. I then offered to have a patrol vehicle pick her up if she didn't feel comfortable making the drive

Did you have any further contact with Ms. Reddy? Only briefly. A few days later while finishing my report for the crash investigator I called her to confirm some details about the vehicle and her husband's plans that evening. She told me that he had called her shortly before the accident and told he planned to stop to see his mother.
